The i7 powered Studio desktop isn't too awfully much more. What's the real difference between this gen of quad cores and the i7? These have a bigger L2 cache.

Should make a decent Linux server, but be ready for compatibility issues during installation. The Intel chipsets Dell uses are not well supported. Good luck if you want to make a Hackintosh.
