Still shipping with 8.04? 9.10 was just released. 9.04 is old news. Why are you 18 months behind, Dell?

I have a Mini 10 with 16GB. I am constantly running out of space. Keep that in mind before purchase.

That and an 8.9 inch screen is not even as long as my dong. Both will make you go blind.

The problem Dell has is that the proprietary video driver that they shipped with the the 8.04 equipped mini 9 won't work on later Ubuntus.

The good news is that the non proprietary drivers are getting better and
9.10 - I'm running it right now on another system - is said to offer pretty good support for the Mini 9.

If you are willing to put 9.10 on it, this Mini 9 looks like an excellent value netbook.

I put 9.1 on my Mini9 over the weekend. The only hitch was the wireless driver which got worked out with auto updates (via wire).

8.04 is the most recent LTS version. Dell is not going to put on a version that will be completely unsupported in a year.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate on mine. Works way better than XP. You will of course have to add a bigger SSD. The W7U footprint is about 10 gig. You can pick up a 32gig 80 read /40 write SSD for around $100.

    The mini 9 will work with 8.04, 8.1, 9.04 or 9.1

I have even had compiz working on each.

If you are running out of space on a netbook, then maybe you dont need a netbook and need laptop.

8.9"? No way. I had one for a couple of months thinking that I will get used to it. Heck. My eyes were always strained and I had hard type typing on the tiny keyboard. This will be good deal if priced at 149.
