There's a one day only (ends tomorrow am) $199 promo banner on the laptop page, but when you click through there's just the mini 9n for $199, and the offers end 3/5 not 2/28. I'm looking more at an MSI or Asus with better base options. Dell's high-low pricing on these is the pits unless you spend hours and hours watching and then jumping on a fresh Outlet deal with coupon code.

$199 for the Ubuntu version, if it had the 160GB drive then I would definitely get it.

Its $199 for 512mb, 4gb ssd.. You can pop in a 2gb memory stick for less then $15 and add a 16gb sdcard for around $20.. Its anetbook afterall..

Ubuntu has a smaller footprint then XP after comparable programs are installed.

Where's the love folks? Poor Ben is just trying to make an honest buck, while at the same time providing some good deals. Cut him some slack. Mistakes happen, like you scum bags never do, sites change their deals or run out of stock. Be thankful that Ben pours his blood, sweat, and tears into his job to make life cheaper for you. And remember, it was Ben who brought joe_knowitall into our lives, thus enabling us to learn that selective harvesting needs work and refining to ensure a better society.

the keyboard on this is bad, but everything else is really nice. I got the 1G/8GSSD/XPrefurb unit from them a month ago when it was down to $210+tax. I'd say that whatever price you pay for the 8gb model, it would be wise to spring for the 16gb ssd model if the price difference is less than 30 bucks more.

EDIT: on outlet.us.dell you can get a nice 16GB/xp refurb for $249-$269 and an 8GB for $239. Too much in itself, but maybe there are some coupons floating around? Don't worry if the unit comes with low ram, as it is easy and cheap ($18 ) to buy a 2G stick to pop in.

Would get it if the keyboard wasn't so poorly reviewed.
Runs OSX pretty smoothly if you check YouTube.

The really weird placement of keys (apostrophe on the bottom row, fn keys, etc) and glossy screen so it's impossible to view with lower brightness kills it for me. I went with the $189 eee 900, also there is no tax.

Ben got it wrong, the deal was never for the machine with those stats. It was for the Linux one with reduced stats.

I told a friend about it, and she tried to get one. It told her 249. I sent her the email I got from Dell, she clicked it, and it gave her the 199 price. Don't ask me why that matters.

also tax and shipping is charged, not free as advertised. by the way if you ordered one at the $249 price, they won't price match, but if you spend about 30 minutes on the phone and endure 7 transfers, you will get to customer service who will relent and meet you half-way and give you a $25 refund on the otherwise $50 price difference.
