Dell Home has the new Inspiron Mini 9 (910u) for $349 with free shipping. This netbook sports a low-power consumption Intel Atom Processor N270 1.6GHz, 512MB DDR2, 4GB SSD, 8.9" 1024x600 LCD, 802.11g Wireless, 32WHr Battery, and runs Ubuntu 8.04. A version with Windows XP is $449.

    For that same $449 for the XP version, you can now get the Asus eee pc 1000H, with a 10 inch screen, bigger keyboard, n wireless card, 80 gb hdd, and 6 cell battery (vs the 4 cell battery on the Dell).

    For all you made in America fanatics, check reality - Dell does not make computers, they assemble computers in America with mostly components which are made in foreign countries. If you do the research, you will find that the US auto makers are also primarily forgien (components and assembly) while forgien cars actually have a hirer percentage of US components and assembly.

    I will say that if Dell has the same success as Gateway, I may be screwed because I am running out of top tier companies I trust to give my money to for a computer. I might have to turn to Apple, ouch.
