Does the PS3 get hot enough that this is something someone would consider necessary? It's not like your going to overclock the thing.

A properly designed console should never need one of these things...

If the fan pulls more air out than air goes in, it'll probably end up creating a partial vacuum, not sure how bad that is for carrying heat away.

Do they make one to draw the hot air away from Ben's?

#3 if you follow that line of thinking, there isn't a properly designed console on the market right now.

PS3s were designed to not needs these..... If you ps3 is having overheating problems, then you are probably putting it at the wrong place and not giving it enough airflow.

Have you guys ps3 owners ever had a YLOD (yellow light of death)problem with your ps3? Go to youtube.com and type in YLOD then you know what I'm talking about. I had a YLOD on my 2 year old ps3 due to overheating. I think they have a problem with the lead free solder on the circuit board. The overheating is not because the ps3 was put at a wrong place but the unit was used to much. I just fixed the YLOD on my console 2 days ago and i'm thinking of buying one of these units for my ps3.

#7 Please describe your "fix". I hear that phrase all the time (or maybe I'm confusing YLOD with RROD), but nobody provides any details! What's involved?

RROD is the problem with xbox360 and YLOD is the problem with ps3. When you have a YLOD, the ps3 will not boot up. The power LED turns yellow for 1 second and then red (instead of green) and it's dead.
if you have a YLOD on ps3, send your console to sony for $150 repair (free if it's still under warranty) or try to fix it yourself.
Try this at your own risk. I've successfully fixed my ps3 following the guide.

My question: Is this fan quieter than the fan in the PS3. When the PS3 fan kicks into high speed, it is very loud and distracting.

Is this fan quieter, and will it keep the PS3 fan from kicking into helicopter mode?

Does the new PS3 slim still have the same HDCP handshake issues via HDMI that the original PS3 versions have? Mine drives me crazy.

Or, instead of this, currently Frys has a 3-port HDMI switch with a couple of fans for PS3 cooling... $10 instore, $15 online. MadKatz brand.
