The best deal I've seen for quality SSD, is the Samsung 840 120GB for $79 at Amazon. It is back up to $99 now.
This isn't a "deal" so much as about what you'd pay for a good SSD, e, not an OCZ or whatever. Samsung, Crucial, Intel, are my top three choices. Kingston's SSDNow line has been decent in my MBP, but I didn't choose it.
Firmware update is mandatory for any SSD before use.
I've installed a number of 520's and 830's. Never had an issue with the Sammys. Had to return two 520's with BSOD's, dropping off BIOS etc. replaced them with 830's, never any issues since. When working, the Intel is wicked fast. Overall, for reliability, I'd go with the 830's if you can still find them.
I know its INTEL but damn... thats is 80cents/GB.... deals are in the 49c-or-lower/MB
please point to those deals, because I was interested in this.
