Microcenter is great for buying intel processors. Saved $60 when I bought my Q6600 1.5 years ago.

Another "loss leader" get them in the door special and hope they buy something else. Good deal if you manage to get one of the few they have in stock. Not worth it to drive 150 miles for me.

As for the D0 (D zero) it's the latest Intel stepping and from the few previews (anandtech.com being one) it overclocks even better than the C0 stepping it replaces. There are a few places that will guarantee you a D0 stepping but the premium isn't worth it. Wait another month or so and the D0 will be the norm instead of the exception.

As for me, it's the motherboard that's holding me back, I just find it hard to pay $300 (or more) for a good i7 mb, especially when motherboards later this year/early next will have SATA 6 GB/S and USB 3.0, so too great a chance of buyer's remorse at the current price points for a good board. And besides that 6GBpS SATA will be necessary to handle the SSD boot drive I want to put into it, no more slow Raptors for me. Wink
