Nice! compare to else where sell for over $200
I heard this one can overclock quite nicely and is one of the better cpu for the dollar spent.
Can anyone confirm this?
Watch out for Monarch Computer, though. Their lifetime Reseller Ratings are good, but they've dropped substantially over the last few months. They could be living off float until they file for bankruptcy.

Yes, with the proper mobo these are the fastest processors available. I believe this is the same as the E6300 (including the 2MB L2 Cache) with a slightly faster clock speed, so if you want the 4MB cache you'll have to go one more step higher.
Great processor. Fast as hell. I have my e6400 running at 3.2ghz with little effort and the supplied hsf.
Can anyone tell me of any good deals on the e6600? It has a 4 MB cache, so I was hoping to get that.
thanks for the find cheaper then newegg.
Thanks ben
#6, I just ordered one from Directron.com. Great price, no tax in CA (they're from Texas), and quick shipping. I placed the order over the weekend, and should receive it via UPS tomorrow.

Fast as hell? I don't think so. I'm still cruising at 2.53GHz on my Celly. Do I really want to lose that 30Ghz? YEAH RIGHT!
Don't fall for 8en's comment. He's just trying to bait people into arguing with him or he has lived under ground for the past six months.
the E6600 is not worth the extra money. The 4mb cache only offers 5-7% performance increase. This model overclocks like a beast
I want to get one of this...for how much..less than 200!
I agree with #11, but #6 the cheapest store pricegrabber.com found for the Core 2 Duo E6600 was Clubit.
OEM ($269.99 shipped free)

Retail ($301.99 shipped free)

Personaly I would go with the OEM version for $269.99 over the retail version and put that $32 to an after market cooler like a Zalman or the cheap $55 Thermaltake water cooler from Zimzoomfly.com.

#11, where did you get that statistic? Cache is the fastest kind of memory. I think it should be higher than just 5%
Ok. I wasn't sure how much of a performance increase it was. Thanks. I might go with this now!
I think I read it on Tom's although not entirely sure. check out http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/10/10/cheap_thrills/
you can see that the overclocked 6400 is basically the same as the 6800 in benchmarks.
#13, I bought one of those water coolers a while back. Total POS. First one I got cooled fairly well, but the pump was really noisy. The replacement I got didn't cool worth a sh*t. Changing from the Silent Water to an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro on my FX-55 dropped temps about 8C.
Just a word of advice, be carefull with Monarch Computer purchases. I bought a motherboard there a year ago and I had to send it back four times before they finally agreed that it was broken. When you post anything negative, and I don't mean explicit, they delete it and don't let future buyers get the full story.
these are dropping very nicely in time for christmas. i bought one of these a while back and use a zelman cooler and it oc's very nicely.
very nice especially at this price.
BE CAREFUL. I had to start claim proceedings with VISA last week because of their inability to ship the product I ordered 3 weeks ago and their subsuquent failure to refund my CC after aditting they were out of stock and removing all trace of the product from their website.
