CompUSA.com has the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor for $150 + $2 shipping = $152 shipped. The Q8200 is a decent overclocker if you want to maximize your bang for the buck.

#3 Yep. That is where I got mine. $229 is cheapest by far you'll find anywhere.

Microcenter are out of stock for the Q9300. This is an OK, not stellar deal.

Your PC's performance is about 95% CPU and GPU. There's very little difference among motherboards.

As long as the motherboard is a reputable brand and you aren't an OC'er then Gigabyte, Asus, evga, they are all good. But crappy boards lead to many hair pulling problems. Stay away from ECS.

From what I've read Abit has dropped making motherboards to make digital picture frames.

If you pair this cpu with OCZ 1066 ddr2 ram, you can EASILY get an overclock in the 4-5ghz range. Very easy to do and it only works with OCZ ram.

    GO OCZ!

Cheney, Ignore CheezWhiz. He's paid to do this baconnaise. See this thread: http://bensbargains.net/deal/94873/0

The same specs are the same specs, some brands exceed specs more readily than others if you want to OC, but in that case your looking at companies like Mushkin, that carry a heavy premium for the possibility of a good OC...
What you need to look at is the multiplier of this CPU...which is not as good as the Q6600.
Jump on www.hardocp.com , do you research in the forums, both hot deals, processor, and OC forums. You'll learn a lot, and learn to ingore rabid advertisers like this...there are a lot of great brand out there. OCZ won't get you a better OC than most other brands.

Q8200's 45nm tech makes it about 20% better clock for clock than a Q6600 ... so stfu and learn something before giving people bad advice. As for VT, 99% of people will never use it.

No the wizard of 17 loves to blow baconnaise all over.
OZ the only ram that will work for that OC? What new crack did you smoke? A-data EX. and Corsair XMS have no problems reaching those speeds when matched with this CPU spaz.
