Oh know, the dreaded i5 core! Doesn't still have you paying extra for mobo's just like i7? What's a good non-IGP mobo in about the $100 price point that would work with this? Or what good onboard graphic boards are like $70-80?
That's what she said.
I havnt had a chance to google this... but I would have to think that the i7 920 for $200 at micro center is a better deal.
i5-750 for $179 and i7-860 for $229 at MicroCenter...in-store-only.
No Hyperthreading on i5s but has turbo.
The best processor still today is the Core i7-860 as still retains HyperThreading and triple channel memory controller. With the Core i5-750 HyperThreading is non existent and only dual channel memory controller could be huge over-sites, giving what you like to do especially workstation-type applications. The upside is for more mainstream tasks the revised Turbo performance boost of the individual cores.
The one thing is gaming scores… you're not going to see much of change if that your primary interest. While if you've held off building a descent machine that's better than mainstream but not super high end this might be the place to jump in especially if pricing war kicks in.
No triple channel memory controller for the i7-860.
Ewiz stinks. Twice they sent me items that didnt match my order. Both times they promised to corrected the mistake and didnt. I will never buy here again. Two bites of a baconnaise sandwich is enough for me.
#7 -- Ah crud... you're right!
It looks at if guru3d has the i7-680 and i5-750 in direct match up, but work has the site locked, have to see it once I'm home.

Meet the Celeron of 2010. It's like a dog with only one nut.
#10 you might just be right.
Tom's hardware has a comparison of the I5 and I7. They liked the I5 for the price point. Naturally I7 is better but if you don't need it why pay for it? Maybe the I5 is the new Celeron but at a much higher level, I would say the Atom is like a one nutted dog.. maybe no nuts...

#14 -- Trash mouth the Canuks, but believes that the Indians speak it like they heard it from Mahareshi Mahesh Yogi or Buda himself.
"Lynnfield--bring Nehalem's features and benefits down into more mainstream price points." not really at this pricing.

#16, I don't think the P55 will be any cheaper to manufacture when the chip itself is $40 vs $3 for the one it replaces.
You can get the i7 920 at Microcenter on sale for $199, it seems like its on sale for this price every other week. (in store only tho)
#17: Do you like the taste of Intel's hard long injection nozzle in the back of your throat? Nice and salty? Reminds you of your warm, fuzzy childhood with your dad's rod tickling your gag reflex?
