Can't you get an i3 or i5 for this price?
Probably, but most people who would buy this don't want to buy a new board to go with an i3/5/7.
This the real one or the fake one?
#3, only the i7 processors are currently offered in the "Aluminum Edition".

I've been off the internet for about two years and haven't kept up with computer technology advancement.
I need to build a computer that will allow for much multitasking but no gaming. At a point, I'll add a top quality sound card for converting vinyl to digital but right now I want the most capability at the lowest price.
With some of the deals I've seen, it seems like a refurb might save me the most money but usually they don't offer much in the way of upgrading. If something like the Asus or the Gigabyte refurbs I saw for $400 are gonna save me 50% of the cost, I could look at giving away or selling what I get now in a couple of years and get something really nice then. I do tend to use a computer for 4 or 5 years.
Please advise. Thanks.
#6 THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE FORUM TO GET THAT KIND OF ADVISE.
#7 Ironically, that's good advice.
microcenter has the q9300 for $149 and the q8200 for 119 also for those wanting similar for cheaper
also the q9550 for 199
nice one #8
#6 AMD generally gives more bang for the buck. Peak performance goes to Intel.. Check out Tom's Hardware or Maximum PC for reviews and budget builds.
I've found that advice from those who are knowledgeable and care is good wherever it's found and it is sometimes found on this site.
Today it seems there's just no one here who's particularly interested in my issue.
BTW, there was no obligation for anyone to answer.
Thanks #11.
Also, #7, the word you were looking for -- in lower case, of course -- was "advice."
yeah this site will give you plenty of advice. From "check out this link for a budget build" to "go F*ck yourself". just got to separate the good from the bad. not all of us are animals.
