Old tech and rebate definitely kill the deal.
Rebates work fine as long as you are capable of reading and following the directions. You're not gonna notice too much real world performance difference between this and the current gen of SSD. This is a great drive to bring an old machine back to life with.
You take what you can get if you want to spend a minimal amount on a SSD. To someone with an aging computer that just had a HDD failure, this is a huge performance boost on the cheap.
