Quickbooks can really drive you nuts. One version they work with MS office, one version they are not compatible (not that you'd read that anywhere). Upgrading versions makes very little sense if what you have is working for you.
QuickBooks will cut off support for a previous version.
Example: Live technical support and add-on business services such as payroll, credit card processing, QuickBooks Email, and online banking will be discontinued for QuickBooks for Windows 2010, QuickBooks 2010 for Mac, and a few other products as of May 31, 2013.
This company gouges the crap out of you. Most headaches EVER from a software.
I hope they boycott their sorry asses
