Seagate 1.5T Exernal for $99.99 @ Frys seems a better deal than this.
Ghost Rider - It may seem so, but my seagate 1.5TB external started clicking after 2 months of light use, and the HDD gets hot enough to fry an egg even after removing it from the plastic enclosure. It still works, but I can't trust it.
#2 I got 2 from Costco a while ago. So far, I don't have any issue on them. (One of them is light use and another runs 24/7.) So may be you just got a lemon ???
Anyone knows who made the drive inside Iomega unit ??
Why would you buy a USB 2.0 device when eSata is available for about the same cost and nearly 5X faster in performance and usually has a USB 2.0 interface to boot? To boot, as in figure of speech, not actual boot device.
#4 Sure if external eSata drive can be the same price as USB, I will take eStat units instead. But I barely see any 1.5TB eStat drive on sale- Can you pose some link for good deals ?

Absolutely. Take any eSata capable external drive and run some benchmarks on it comparing it to the USB 2.0 speed. USB 2.0 is INCREDIBLY SLOW at both reading and writing.
If you have all the time in the world, USB 2.0 is fine. If you want to get in, get your backup done, and move on then you want eSATA.
#6 : The one you posted is 1TB not 1.5Tb. As I mentioned" barely see any 1.5T eSata drive on sale" And your link direct to external 1TB drive and only 1 year warranty? So the 1TB external eSata HDD price is about 1.5T USB external HDD. If that's the case - I will buy bare drive with long warranty and buy another eSATA enclosure that probably cost less. Thermaltake always has eSata HDD enclosure for less than $20. I got my seagate 1.5T for 89.99 + $16 eSata enclosure for $106. $11 more than your deal and got 1.5TB + 5 year warranty. I think it is better than 1TB 1 year warranty.
BTW- For Non -brand name external HDD with short warranty( 1 yesr), make sure you always know what's inside there before you buy it.
Sure - eSata is faster than USB, we all know that- but just cannot find some good deal ...
