no these do not wash carpets.
It's floor only and it needs to be flat.
No stairs or it will have an untimely death.

They do an OK job, good to have for wood floors.

#2, check out the SpotBot carpet cleaning robot. Great reviews on Amazon and I love mine.

I also love the scooba for my tile floors. I got a refurb of this model during a wootoff last christmas season for $99.

Brought it for $200 for my wife last Xmas and she loves it.
The battery is dying, so we called iRobot and they sent us a new battery with a device to load the latest firmware. It is working smarter with the new firmware now (how to attach a corner etc.).
This iScooper is actually a lot more useful than the iRobot sweeper that we also have because mopping the floor is hard work.

Any thoughts on having these with pets? I know you're not supposed to use swiffers if you have pets... can make them sick. Does this thing use a cleaning solvent that is not pet-friendly?

I got a refurb scooba from woot for $99. The battery didn't last long... so had to pay for a new battery from irobot after 4 months, refurb. units only have a 90 days warrenty. Too bad it doesn't do a good job on cleaning the corners and sides.

my regular irobot works great. although lots of dog hair can make it get full fast and it needs to be emptied once or twice during cleaning so keep this in mind.

#7, iRobot is now not recommending leave the iRobot at charge all the time now. They told us to unplug the charge cable when charging is done.

#6, we've got dogs and a bird. The Clorox Scooba solution seems ok (need to look into this further, though). But if you don't want to use iRobot's solution, the Scooba also cleans well with white vinegar.

I really like our Scooba. It's not perfect, but if you don't have time to burp with floor cleaning, this will go a long way to decreasing the period of time between full coverage mopping.

#9: It seems like your cute little nickname should be "politicians" with your grasp on the language, burp.
