Can I put this on the bed and let it wash my sheet?!!LOL
The coupon works! Saw the iRobot in action not too long ago and am very impressed. Can't wait to get mine.
so which model is this? the one that requires the proprietary soap or the one you can use plain old bleach water in? I can never keep the model numbers straight...
the scooba model is 5900--the older but apparently heavier-duty one (longer lasting battery use per charge) but must use the Clorox liquid. The roomba model is 401--it's just the most basic roomba vac. You can also use some white vinegar instead of the Clorox, according to some past owners.
awesome price...i'm getting one...
u also get 20% accessories and free 2nd day shipping.
Are you sure the 5900 is older? I thought the 5800 is the older and 5900 is the newer...
The link is not working
Just checked, yup, the 5800 is newer and as #4 described...
The 5800 can run on regular water, but it's not a great idea. iRobot does approve of using white vinegar, instead. Plain water could shorten the life of the Scooba.
"Approved Cleaning Solutions
iRobot approves using only Clorox® Scooba cleaning solution or 2 oz. of white vinegar with Scooba."
The Roomba and Scooba Message Boards are a good resource for general questions about the Roomba and Scooba.
I can't see why people would want this. A regular vacuum cleaner is cheaper and more effective. Stop being lazy and do it the normal way
FYI, if you have marble floors, you shouldn't use bleach or vinegar on them. Ammonia is much better for Marble, but apparently you can't substitute that in a roomba, so I guess that makes my decision easier.
Flagg is correct: 5800 can run on water alone ... not sure why that particular feature would be important since you are trying to clean the floor after all -- the Clorox liquid was supposedly specially made to be gentle and effective for all approved surfaces. As far as cost for the Clorox, you can watch and buy when they have specials -- I got the 9-bottles deal shipped for $24 total with 20% off & google saving. Deal for $230 gone; now it is $270. You can apply the same coupon to the 5800 for $210 plus a single extra cleaning bottle free. Good luck all. BTW according the rommbareview forum, 5800 can be upgraded to the 5900 battery (just buy it--identical interface), but some have mentioned that 5800 is smaller and lighter(?) than 5900. #10 wouldn't it be great if THIS is the normal way
Many of my friends have different styles of roomba, and they think it's worth having one or more in your home. For busy working moms, they are the best gifts. Think about it, wouldn't it be much better if you spend your precious time with your kids rather than cleaning the house? These are fabulous inventions for those busy people. Of course, if you are the one who have plenty of times to kill, then you might not need one.
