      I've heard the video quality on these is sub par... any other reviews?

      Yes, compared to a Cannon or Sony these have a sub par image but it will still look much better than a non HD camera.

      Flash memory is better than internal hard drive.

      I prefer sdhc because I can remove it from the camera, put it a card reader and not have to attach the camcorder to my PC. But, I am not a heavy user. If you record an hour or so at a time, the sdhc works. A camera using flash is cheaper than the same camera with a hard drive and it has no moving parts. If you need to record several hours at a time, the hard drive may be a better option. Or you could use several flash cards.
