No FLAC support. I'm going to keep saving for a popcorn hour.

Why pay $210 for this when you can get Mvix Ultio for $169
Mvix Ultio plays FLAC as well.

I just got the kingwin one for $70AR from the egg yesterday and it is the baconnaise. It's running Linux and you can telnet into the box and hack the baconnaise out of it. I already got FTP and web server on it and am working on samba to make it a full NAS. Not bad for a burp ghetto-ass 70 burp bux, dude!

Just read the reviews on this and it has a few too many flaws for this price.

I guess It's just a matter of knowing what commands to enter huh? Know of any walkthroughs or anything for the more linuxly challenged of us? If I could get samba turned on so I could use it as a nas, I think I'd be set. I had to do this on my laptop like 3 years ago, hell if I remember what I had for lunch yesterday. >_>

EGreat M34A is a great alternative. It's less than price of Popcorn but runs the same firmware as Popcorn. It plays 1080p mkv with full DTS native encode. Plays pretty much all formats.

WDTV has no ethernet = FAIL

Kingwin uses the realtek rtd1261 design.

BTW, kingwin is more limited. No FLAC and no mkv but for $70, and having a hackable box, I can deal.

damn no mkv might be a deal breaker... a lot of my anime is comming in MKV format, but I guess GOTSent is easy enough to use to convert mkvs... hmmm. I hope it goes on sale again. $99 is what it currently is, i'll wait a while i guess.

if you're willing to spend this much, might as well just invest a little more and get pc instead, no need to worry about any formats.

    #7,

Last I checked, there's no PC that small enough to fit in the palm of my hand,. They don't even has enough power to play 1080p if they're less than 3 pound (netbook could not do this).

These are so small and convenient extremely portable (the ultimate portable) and power consumtion must be better than PC-I haven't check but the heat it give off is much less than PC so power consumtion must be way less.

PC cost more than $200, if portable then much more .

You need to try one of these and see such a little limitation but with a lot more to gain.
