    Make sure that you pull out your Bone Thugs and Harmony CD when you play these in your chevy s 10.

    My son and I built one of these for his rig using an un-ported box from eBay. I was surprised at the clean, punchy sound, suitable for any type of music. (better than my 12" Polk).

    Avoid the 'ported' and 'reflex' style boxes; those are what provide the 'boomy' rap-style sound. Hell of a deal IMO: these things probably weigh 15 pounds apiece so the Free Shipping makes it especially sweet.

    Bass is almost always overlooked in a stereo system. Until you have a properly balanced system you don't know what you're missing. The price is right on for this item, it's the amp that will cost some $ to drive it.

    Would be OK for music but probably doesn't have a low enough Fs for home theater use (Fs approx. 20 Hz is about right). Very hard to stretch a higher resonance sub low enough for home theater.

    Well designed ported systems are just as good a solution as sealed. Poorly designed sealed systems can sound just as bad. Sealed systems sacrifice low F3 and efficiency. Ported systems play louder lower. I am really just a rank amature see someone a little more knowledgeable:

    Found on the DIY Subwoofer site (http://www.diysubwoofers.org/sbc/sbc1.htm).

    Car Audio Drivers:

    Typically, car audio drivers will not do well as drivers for a home subwoofer system, as they are usually designed to produce a good response when a car's cabin gain is taken into consideration. However, there are a few for which the T/S parameters suggest that they can produce good results in the home. IOW, if you're planning to use a car audio driver in your design, treat it as a home audio driver and design a system based on its T/S parameters to get the best results.

    (testmonkey writes) F3 of in car systems is best around 40-50 Hz so that cabin gain can complement the sub's performance. Best would be to have the T/S parameters of the driver or you could wing it Wink.

    Actually Kenwood has some of the T/S parameters on their site:

    Fs = 45 Hz

    Actually quite a lot of info.
