Ritz Camera has the Kingston 1GB DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive for $55 - $20 off using Google Checkout - $35 rebate [Exp 12/16] + $7 shipping = $7. Read/Write speeds: 6MBps/3MBps. [BizRate]
Yeah i'd suggest the sandisk cruzer series over these kingston ones anyday. They're kinda bulky in all directions, LxWxH. It sometimes invades the space of the other USB port so either this one gets bent or the other device gets bent. The cruzers are thinner and works better in that sense. I mean they also have retractable caps, so u really cant beat that. But if you're lookin for a cheap flash disk, this one is fine. It works just like any other, and at a decent speed.
I did an order on alkaline batteries back on the 4th (posted here, thanks Ben!), and it hadn't shipped yet. To make things weirder, I got an e-mail from them today, where they said that some film they had carried was sold out, and wasn't going to be re-stocked!
I basically e-mailed them back, and said, "SO???? I ordered batteries! NOT film!! But I'm sure you'll be able to ship my order in a timely manner, since it doesn't include any discontinued film.right??"
Kingston made a different (Data traveler?) that was all silver and quite a bit bulkier than these are. These aren't the smallest you can get by any stretch, but you can fit one simultaneous to another device with same sized body, on a motherboard, etc, pair of ports.
Believe their low write speed spec, I just received one from a buy.com deal that only gets 2.3MBps on a single large file (the optimal scenario). Otherwise pretty boring but I dislike that the LED is mostly obscured behind their logo'd grey plastic strip, it is far less visible than most thumbdrive LEDs.
Good deal. I have this Item and works great. my only complaint is that I always misplace the cap. Wish they designed one with a string attached.
$7 is a good price for a gb, i guess.
#1 <=== since you always loose the cap.. try the sandisk cruzer micro.. they come down to around $12+ per gb from time to tome.
good price Slow ass drives
