Newegg sells this same model for about the same price. I don't own this but it says it supports Trim.

Can anyone explain "trim support" in rodeo cowboy's term to me?
    Thanks in advance.

All I know is that I have the 64 GB ssd in my laptop right now, and it runs great with Windows 7. Have had it for about three months.

You geeks gather around large GB solid state disks like pedefiles around catholic choir boys (or moths around a flame, same thing).

These drives are still too high yet for the performance gains.

What!!! The performance gain is incredible, especially if you have an older system. The only drawback to using ssd is cost(well worth the gain) and setup is a little more complicated to get the best performance out of the drive.

These drives are all MLC(2 bits/cell) and do not offer the reliability, performance, or life of SLC(1 bit/cell) type drives. Linky to short white paper explaining the diff...

My laptop hard drive is starting to make clicking sounds so it might be time to invest in a SSD. Do I still have to defrag the drive? How is the start up time on an SSD? Is anyone out there using hard disk encryption on a SSD?

#10 - You don't want to defrag, as it shortens the life of the SSD last I had heard.

I use a 32GB SSD drive on my eeePC, which is the original kind with just a 900mhz Celeron. baconoots about as fast as Vista does on a 3.4 Dual 2 Core w/dual Raptors in RAID. In other words, fast enough for me.

Too big, too costly and Buy.com sucks. I can get 4TB for this price.

#9 Yes, they're MLC. Since MLC stores two bits per cell, you don't have to use as many chips for a given capacity. As a result, SLC drives are about twice as much (or more). Feel free to spend your money however you want though.

As for the life of MLC... you will replace the drive a long time before you hit the number of writes an MLC is capable of.
