Would this work in any laptop that was made this year?

#1, if you know the make and model of the laptop, you can go to crucial.com and look up the kind of RAM you need. You do want to make sure you get the right kind. I am trying to buy some for my cousin's laptop, and he needs 200 pin, and some of the RAM is 240 pin. You can also go to crucial.com while using the laptop you want RAM for and have it scan your machine. Then it will tell you what kind you need.

My laptop uses DDR2 PC2-5300 while this is DDR2 PC2-6400. Sounds like this is faster memory, but it should be okay to use it, right?

Deal dead, it's now $40.00, still a decent deal, but I'd rather wait for it to go back down in price.

$40 is still not a bad deal though $33 is definitely hot. $40 is very warm I'd say

#1, the typical laptops do still use DDR2 memory so yes it should work but look at your specs or pull the memory out to see what it is first.

#3, yes this as well as all other DDR2 memory is backwards compatible to a slower speed. $40 isn't all that warm though, nor was $33 considering there have been deals for $25 or less especially if one only needs -5300 instead of -6400 in which case it's been down to $15 AR more than once (probably will be again soon).

I like the no-rebate hassle, plus if you have to rma, it is direct with the manufacturer. Also if you go to the website, look at the sodimm selection, you can get the more expensive cl5 for $32. Both are still in stock!

Still $33, I think I will wait for the price to drop below $30 but this is the best deal so far.

Umm, you do realize that Kingston is not the manufacturer, that they only relabel other products bought on the spot market? That also means that if you buy what seems to be the same thing and some time, meaning their purchasing options changed, it won't even be the exact same thing as you bought last time. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse, but usually worse because usually someone wants the same thing for compatibility running dual channel.

Windows will only recognize about 3.4GB anyway.

Guys...go for the RAM if you need it. It's a good deal and why would you wait 1-3 months to save $10 if you actually need this. Things will always get cheaper...wtf!

And #11...I'm so sick of you ppl trying to advise others of your misinformation. Do a simple Google search and read for five minutes will ya?! The range you might see on your computer is between 2.8 and 3.5GB. Understand, there are two of you using your computer; you and the computer. Please see: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/. You can see by this article this is the expected behavior in a 32-bit OS. It
isn't that 4GB of memory is not in use, but that what is reported is only the portion available for the OS and user programs. If you had say 2GB in your system, the OS would list all 2GB, but in reality you would only have somewhere around 1.5GB for the OS and user programs.

Put 4GB in your system ppl! It's cheap, and YOU USE IT ALL!!!!

Anyone know if a laptop that is listed as having a 2GB limit would read the first 2 GB, or not work at all?
