You can't go wrong with 8GB for this price. I have this stick and it has a nice transfer rate.

Fair price, but no #3 the quality is ok but nothing special, same design as was sold for $10 to $15 all along (a low end drive), and is as slow or slower than anything else you might find in 8GB size. If it fails it's hardly worth bothering with after 2+ years, at which point it's value used would be about $3.

Frankly, the bigger they get the more important the performance is, who wants to wait an hour or more to make use of a large capacity?

I have the 2GB version. Very satisfied with it, and will get this 8GB. Surely the transfer rate is no the best, but for 15 bucks you can not hope for much more...

I have Kingston 1GB for 4 years. No problems yet, except the cap is loose.

The Kingston flashdrives are pretty reliable - I keep upgrading as the capacity keeps getting larger. 1GB -> 2GB -> 4GB... now I'm gonna need this 8 Gigger.

KING111028 ---> this works for the deal above, for the 16GB DataTraveler Kingston. Expires 10-31 though, so good luck. I got one. Price came out to be 16+ after everything.

The transfer rate is much slower on my 4 gig one than 1 gig one.

Yeah the newegg deal had the 16GB version for $15 after a coupon. I'd be pretty surprised if another comparable deal didn't come up soon for a 16GB USB drive. These things are always getting cheaper.

I've had a 4GB Kingston for a year now. And it works fine. Though I don't know how much it cost at the time. 8 gigs for 14 bucks seems reasonable

My four-year-old 2GB DT is still going strong. Good company, solid model.

I've heard that the 16 GB versions of these sticks are significantly slower than the smaller sticks - anybody know why?

I think these things come in handy, esp. for 14 bucks now! I got my 8gb stick for 21 bucks 6mos ago and it's going strong. But the transfer rates are quite slow. Copying big files may take some time but hey it's portable.
