Best Buy has the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Speakers for $120 with free shipping. Features a side-firing 6.5" subwoofer, headphone jack, and 200 watts of total power. These probably qualify as oldies but goodies now.
They are pretty good for the size and price, though that's subjective... what size and price you want. I usually go for larger bookshelf or satellite speakers instead on a PC though I have various little amps I've collected or built that I can use to power them, I guess I'm just not "as" picky about the amount of bass on a PC as on a rack stereo or HT setup, and lots of general PC sounds from apps or games seem to stay closer to midrange making a larger L/R speaker, especially a 3 way, better at midrange reproduction.
I've owned a set of these an IMO they're probably the best computer speaker bang for $120 bucks. Like #2 I saved up and hooked up a receiver, good bookshelves, and a very good subwoofer to my PC but I'm an audio-nut.
recommended on ask engadget as the best 2.1 speaker system for under $100. Not sure how good it is for $120

Probably one of the best PC speakers systems in this price range.
very good speakers, had these for about 5 years until the sub died.
