No CNET review. Any experience with this?
I got the Konica Minolta 1600W color laser printer for $50 two weeks ago at Fry's. It was $189 in store on sale for $139. Online for in store pick up was $99 on sale for $49. I placed the order on line and the confirmation email said their were none available. I thought it was strange that they allowed you to place the order but the confirmation email said there were none available. So I went to Fry's, found the printer, took it to the register, and showed them the web site confirmation (but not the email saying there were none available). They sold it to me for $50 and when I checked the web site at home, it was no longer available. Some people say it was a pricing mistake. So I got a color laser for $50 and it prints very sharp and colorful images, unlike the ink jet it replaced.
Nice move #2. My brother multi-function (490cw) inkjet has pleased me, but I don't print a lot of pictures. I don't know what your toner costs would be, but the LC61 inks for my printer are dirt cheap. Just bought two black cartridges, and a color set for $14. I know, not laser. But for inject, and wireless, it does a really nice job.
I guess the point I wanted to make is figure out the printing costs before buying any printers these days.
Great printer. Much better than the Samsung multifunction laser I bought to replace. I also added the 2nd paper feeder and duplexer. It cames from a company who knows how to make printer/copier and all the paper handling. Very good customer support too. Called a couple of times and immediately got connected to American based customer support.
I had problem (black line on printer paper) with the image processor unit after about a month of use, and they said it's likely because of address label got stuck inside. They advised me to use a different type of label. And without any other question, asked for my address and shipped me a new one. The image processor unit cost over $100.
It draws a lot of power when starting up. Worked fine at my old home. But at the new place I rent, every time I start it up, the light in the whole 2nd floor (probably all tied to the same breaker) dim. It also caused one of UPS to die (the ups was used for my computer, not the printer). Anyway, it's my house wiring problem, not the printer. I have to connect it to the outlet where the washer and dryer is now.
