    Excellent charger for whatever NIMH batteries you use.

    I spent $10 more on the BC-900 and I think this one would have been more than adequate. So yeah, unless you're a real battery geek.

    I have one and use either Energizers or Eneloop batteries. Once in a while when I put a set of four batteries into this charger, it will not read one or two batteries (display will say NULL). Now, few days later, the same set put in the charger works fine. Strange.

    #5 and #6, yes, these chargers are a bit paranoid about not touching "too deeply depleted" batteries. Keep a "dumb" charger around. Pop 'em into the dumb one for 30 seconds, then move 'em into the LaCrosse.

    #5, #8, thanks. Same here. I thought I had one dead cell. Now let me try #8's suggestion.

    yep, I've had the same issue where the display says NULL for some batteries.. I pop them into a dumb one for a short time and then they work in the La Crosse. I thought I just had some bum batteries.. nice to know I'm not the only one with this issue. great charger.

    I think the main difference between the BC-700 and the BC-900 is that the BC-700 cannot recharge complete depleted batteries while the BC-900 can (besides that the BC-900 comes with batteries adaptors and a bag).

    It's $24.99, but free shipping is $25 or higher; bastards!

    I have a recent problem with just one slot in mine...same end one. I will try #8s solution as well.

    My 900 won't charge deeply depleted ones either but as mentioned stickem in another charger for a minute then back in the LaCrosse. These are the best consumer chargers out there. Not the most portable so I use the one that came with the Eneloops on the road. Great Christmas gift!

    I love my BC700. Man. Its really nice to be able to set the rate for discharge and have it automatically recharge them when its done. I use the Duraloops (duracell branded eneloops) and they are a dream in this charger. Even my DigiPower Endure hybrids are performing better since theyve been cycled a couple of times in this charger.

    I want another for xmas.

    My Charger:
    ==> Amazon.com: Maha Powerex MH-C9000 WizardOne Charger-Analyzer: Electronics
    http://www.amazon.com/Maha-Powerex-MH-C9000-WizardOne-Charger-Analyzer/dp/B000NLUSLM/ref=pd_sbs_ol_2

    Good summary of difference between the two:
    "If you keep your batteries in good shape, the cheaper and better equipped La Crosse BC-900 is a better deal, but for specialized tasks the Maha C9000 is unequaled."

    Haven't had a problem with my BC-900. Got it when it was the deal here on Ben's. And yes, I use the refresh feature frequently to get the last bit of life out of those cheap Big Lots rechargeables.
