I bought this for my kids last Christmas.
It took me 3-4 hours to put the thing together for them, and then the little basterds took it apart to make their own ships.
Seriously though, it was too tough for my 10 year old to build.
How hard woould it really be to make it look like Red 3 or Red 5? LoL.
#3 - Then stop doing EVERYTHING for them.
I bought this for my son when he was 9. I had to help him, but eventually he got it together. It actually takes 10X longer to fix his mess ups than to build it myself, but now, he can build most of these things without my help.
If you are spending 3-4 hours building it for them to play with it, I think you are missing the point of Legos. This is also apparent by your anger that they took them apart to build new things...LOL.
