Good netbook if you need a express card slot.

I have this one with 1gig ram and 160 gig HD, paid $349 two weeks ago. Very sturdy, nice screen, the only con is the 3 cell battery which can be upgraded via ebay. I would buy this again.

$429 at my academic computer store. it has 1gb ram, 80 gb drive (odd), bluetooth and 6-cell battery.

oddly, it has a different 10.1" screen with a different resolution... slightly smaller... I think 1024 x 576.

You best figure on spending $15 to add another 1GB of memory. Also, they put in arrow keys near the right shift key, so that key is small, making tough typing a little tricky.

comparing to price, quality, nothing else to this. only con is the battery but its ok if you can do an upgrade. most thing impresses me is the quality. so solid. i actually personally try out the ACER, Ausu, and the one from Sumsang, Acer and Ausu has good price maybe, but they r not that good in quality, samsung is good. but price is too high. cost at leat 100 dollar more. think of that.. lenovo is my first choice, this is acutllay my 3rd personal labtop from them, two t61, and this.all are good machines.

Does this have a keyboard that is close to a standard keyboard? Or is it considerably smaller. I've seen the Mini 9 from dell and have a hard time typing on it due to keyboard size.

It's somewhere in the 90%+ size compared to a standard laptop keyboard. SO, yes bigger then the Dell Mini9, but still smaller then full size.

Notice ths link brings you to S10e (418739U) at PC Connection.
S10e is different from S10. One major difference is screen resolution.
Resolution is 1024x576 on S10e, compares to 1025x600 on S10.

      S10e with 3-cell battery weighs 2.65lb, lasts 2.5 hrs.

85% size of a standard keyboard.

The build of this netbook is top notch.

I don't like is the 512MB memory soldered on board.
There is one slot available for upgrade, but limit memory size to up to 1.5GB.
Chipset can only support up to 2GB.
For example, asus 1000HA memory is not soldered on board, just replace with a 2GB SODIMM.

Wait for official 6-cell battery from Lenovo.
Ebay 6-cell batteries come from Asia and the quality is questionable.
Bad batteries can overhead and explode.

Anybody tried putting a 2GB SO-DIMM in to see if it just ignores the 512MB beyond what it can address? Either way, 1.5GB should be plenty for the intended uses running XP. Good deal if it suits your needs.

i have the s10, got it for ~300 in december on 15% off with paypal day at newegg.

      doesn't get very hot
      i had a DDR2 667 stick lying around, 1.5GB is great w/ XP
3 cell battery still gets 2:40 worth of battery life with word processing and realplayer. yeah, I'll by a 6 cell at some pt.
I'm 6'5 and my hands still fit on the keyboard-they don't on the Asus eee.

Good point #14. It is possible as long as hardware or BIOS does not limit that. Worth to try.

      1.5GB is good for XP.
Think Windows 7 for netbook too.

From the specs, screen size is 10.2" for S10, 10.1" for S10e.
