i wish they'd stop milking these single core builds and put out some of these netbooks with the dual core Atom--before Christmas please
these lenovos ARE well made and I believe you can upgrade to 1.5 or even 2 GB RAM -- nice keyboard too (for 10 inch display computer)
too bad 512gb is wasted when upgrading to 2gb and these netbooks are worth $200-250, not more than that. paid 360 for 1000h after cashback. i think we'll see a touchscreen before dual core atom in Q1-Q2 2009.
How can you work with a laptop that has a smaller screen width than a standard sheet of paper...
I really really like these netbooks from lenovo...
wow so everybody jumped on this bandwagon i'm wondering how long this fad will go
I used to use a laptop for GPS but much better to use a dedicated GPS unit. Not to mention they are so cheap now, why bother with a cumbersome laptop?
#21, a dual-core Atom would likely increase TPD and consequently decrease battery life, which negates the portability advantage of these sub-10" netbooks.
Atom sucks. Better to buy $399 REGULAR Notebook.
ram is too low but can be cheaply upgraded. though, looking for a bigger hd
#16 I would say that there are some issues about having a GPS Laptop in your car while driving. First of all, you really want to have the display in the line of sight ... on your dash. There are laws about blocking your view of the dashboard, like in CA, you can't attach a GPS via suction to your windshield.
If the laptop should (gasp) crash, that would really suck while you're driving. I would note that no Magellan or Garmin GPS has ever crashed on me. That being said, it does seem convenient to keep a laptop in the car.
To #16, I once had a mini-pc setup in my car. It was great, a 8" LCD 800x600res, and the computer was a seperate Cappuccino PC (think almost exactly like a Mac Mini only WAY before Mac claimed to invent it, back in Pentium III days).
The great thing about a car PC is not only a full featured GPS software of your picking on a nice large 9" or 10" screen. But also you can load tons of MP3's, Music Video's, Movies, Games, Emulation, all kinds of stuff onto this whereas a normal GPS unit you have well... GPS. Obviously you shouldn't be doing any video viewing or game playing while driving, but it can be fun when you are in a parking lot for a bit, or for your passenger to have something to do.
In fact, I plan to upgrade my old rig with a in car netbook GPS/MP3 system. I'm still waiting on a Touchscreen Netbook with a covertible fold down setup though.
A lot of money for a netbook with only 512 megs of RAM
I also used to use a 13" laptop in the car as a GPS. I liked the amount of screen real estate but I prefer using my standalone GPS now. The touchscreen on the standalone really stands out as better functionality in my opinion
Haven't had a problem with my EEEPC. Not sure how lenovo compares, but the MSI wind didn't the greatest review.
How much slower is Intel Atom CPU compare to Core Duo. I heard that dual core Atom chip is coming late this year.
Intel has said that the dual core Atom is not meant for netbooks due to the higher power/heat, but we shall see.
Do you think these will cost less on Black Friday??
if you can find a notebook that cost less than $400 with less than 13in screen, get that one instead of this
nice to see lenovo is finally coming into the small pc market, only a few months behind but better late then never
I think the Asus Eee 1000ha is definitely a better buy. I am waiting to get one on black friday... hope it will be on sale then.
