I have this one and the new one. Back lit feature of new one is good that this one doesn't have.
Optical finger mouse royally sucks on new model. The roller ball on this one is better.
Haven't had any range issues on either compared to some other models I use.
Especially useful for using your main computer as a media player for living room. Just run HDMI cable and get something like this. Saves you the expense of additional HTPC computer or other streaming device in most cases
