this is provably the best time to go to Fry's and pick up a TV. They seem to always slash the prices to its lowest just after Christmas.

47"? Why not 46 or 52? Something... standard?

Got one for my parents today. 25 bucks recycling fee + tax, came to around under $900. Got it around 12:30 PM. Even the sales associate didn't know there was an online sale on it, so no one in the store knew it was on sale. There was still 3 TVs left in the SJ Brokaw store after I bought mine.

#2, LCD panels manufacturers started and chose a large LCD substrate size and then decide how to cut them to get the best number/sizes combinations of TV panels. In this case, I bet it is 47" panels since each substrate won't give them more panels even if it were cut to 46" sizes (52" would yield fewer panels per substrate).

I got one yesterday. Enjoying the TV. Had to place the order online and then rushed over to the store immediately to pickup. Fry's has LG 47LH50 47" LCD HDTV for $999 now on frys.com. A slightly better model than 47LH40.
