BJs.com has the LG 50PA5500 50" 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV for $599 + 5% non-member surcharge = $629 with free shipping. Or choose annual membership for $50. Features a 0.59" thin TruSlim Frame.
I'm seeing a 'thats what she said' or 'yo momma' somewhere in there.
But to bring the discussion back, can ANYONE tell me the difference between the PA5500 and PA6500? Because I'm not seeing a thing. Maybe the remote? Or WiFi? I've looked through LG's list and I'm finding squat.
^ According to the PDF spec sheets, under "AV INPUTS/OUTPUTS" the 6500 has only 1 rear AV In vs 2 (1 rear & 1 side) for the 5500, while the 6500 has two Component Video Inputs on the rear while 5500 has only one.
Thanks for that. Hardly seems worth the $100-$200 price difference. This should be a very good buy. This is actually less than the price I paid for my LG 50PK250. I would bite the bullet... if I could find some way to ditch the old plasma. Even though they weigh much less than they used to, it's still a PITA to transport.
Not necessarily. I've noticed that some years BF deals are good while every few years you get a barn burner in certain segments of the industry. Last year seemed to find the TV makers in panic mode where Sharp was dumping their 60" LCD at $800 (LED's at $1000). It's possible that next year will be the year for TV sell-offs, but I'll bet this year will be better especially with Best Buy in full panic mode by then.
^ Take CRT TVs or LCD computer monitors for example, year over year they kept getting cheaper for the same size or larger, though that has slowed down a bit in the last year but it could have been due to the disasters in Japan since Japan supplies a lot of subcomponents even if the product as a whole was made in China.
It is crazy how much these large tv's have gone down in price
Going down at BJ's... there's a joke in there somewhere.

It's a full 1000 series number higher so there should be other performance and feature improvements if following standard convention.
LG Plasma=bad
At this point you might as well wait another six months and get a great deal on BF. This past one was a bonanza for LCD and some LED TV's
^ but if you wait 18 months then you can get the next generation with higher performance.
