This one is a 2012 model and has far superior 3D to the Samsung. However the LG has a black level that is not as dark as the competition. If you prefer last year's Samsung, I would look for the D7000 which has slightly better picture quality and costs less than the D8000.
Yeah, I just bought this TV last night. The 3D feature is amazing, the black color is not as deep as mentioned above. However, this is the cheapest price I've ever seen since I've been looking around since it first came out. The bezel is something that would cause others to be envious of. My GF didn't like the trumotion as 240hz for regular TV might be too much for the average user. I would say definitely a good buy in my books.
Just bought this TV last night. This TV is aesthetically one of the best looking I have ever seen. 3D is amazing, but still need to tweak the Video Settings. Thanks for all the advice.
Anyone know if this is a solid price? Would you go with Samsung's UN55D8000 over this?

Thanks Superman, really helpful as I am struggling with the decision....
What about this price? I know its a new TV so not much to compare it to, but is it a good price?
