I hear blu-ray is really popular in France. It goes with overpriced cheese.

Because manufacturing was phased out once the numb-nuts declared BR the winner of the format wars. If it weren't for that, HD-DVD would've won and cost under $60 by now.

#3 True.. If you don't own a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player yet like me and maybe thinking about buying one or waiting for the pirce to drop, Then try out the CyberLink PowerDvd 9.0 Ultra It makes all your regular dvd moveies looks like HD quality. Works very nice for me. See for yourself Free 30 days trail.. Make sure you have dual-core processor 3.0ghz or higher or everything gets very choppy, lots of ghosting. and not worth wasting your time..

I gat that LiteOn BR reader recently which came with PowerDVD 8 for $60 and it works well. I put it in my htpc and the BR picture looks really good on my 40" Toshiba. My main complaint is that it seems like Windows 7 Media Center should just support BR video without having to mess with stuff like PowerDVD. I hear PDVD 9 works better with WMC but I don't want to spend money on it because with a free utility I found PDVD 8 can be integrated into Media Center to an acceptable level (but still not perfect).
