I paid this for my first CD-ROM drive..
and that was when Bill Clinton was president!
m0f0, nuisance_sucks, and milf_hunter weren't born yet when Bill Clinton took office. It's quite sad they weren't old enough to vote for either Bush, and they were no old enough to vote for McCain. Perhaps there is some slim hope of voting for J Bush?
#2: What the burp does your strange ramblings have to do with this DVD hardware offer?
Still too expensive. Hope someone dips to $100 by Black Friday.
Cost of media still needs to come down a lot!
how much are the discs?
Yea the price of the drive is not the problem, i would pay 250 for the drive if the media was only a couple buys.
#6 the single layer discs can be had at frys for like 6 bucks on sale, the dual layer are like 20-30 bucks, so not worth it.
Got in on this deal last week when it was $199 from NewEgg. So not a deal now. All in all it's worth it -- media prices are not that bad when you consider high def video tapes are MORE expensive than BD-Rs.
Blu-ray can go to hell for all I care. You can't compare the price of these drives now to the first CD drives--we didn't have anything back then like CD-ROM! They were worth the price for what you could do. But Blu-ray and the ill-fated HD-DVD garbage that has been competing for our hard-earned money? Just junk. I can buy 2 TB worth of HDs for the price of this burner. And I won't have to worry about lining the pockets of the DRM police.
While you're at it, you can take back your HDMI with HDCP and ViewPort crap. I'm done playing those games. The one good thing about HDMI (integrated audio) they screwed up by having multiple different revisions of the spec. And good luck getting past HDCP, even for honest customers. You'll be busy rebooting your devices in various combinations while I'm enjoying 1080p over component.
