      just call up tmobile (as a customer) and say you're planning to leave for japan in 2-3 weeks and you want to use your phone there. they will send you a code in a few days to do it.

      I've gotten my last 3 phones unlocked through tmobile bc of it without any issues

      Worst customer service of all the cell companies. I bought a prepaid phone with free $50 airtime card offer. Card did not come with the phone, called them, arguing with several CS reps for 45 minutes before they finally accepted responsibility. Bastards!!
