I totally disagree about T-Mobile as a bad service provider. T-Mobile is an excellent low-cost service provider that can save you quite a bit of money yearly versus others like Verizon & their Blood sucking monthly plans with their totally proprietary CDMA Phones & hardware.

UPDATED: To be fair to T-Mobile the Optimus L9 is a newer Phone about a year old & does has some pretty nice specs. This is a step in the right direction. I Said earlier [I don't, however like the obsolete, outdated, poorly reviewed, refurbished &/or error prone Phones that T-Mobile is selling now. It's time to start selling newer Phones that have better reviews for the Pre-Paid & Pay-as-you-go plans or we all will keep buying unlocked phones on Amazon, Ebay, & other marketers.]

UPDATED: A few days ago I criticized Ben for listing as a Ben's Best. After more investigation I find the reviews on the L9 to be somewhat mixed. Though the Battery life is somewhat low it still is one of the newest No-Contract Phones & has a nice large screen that uses Android ICS & also has a gig of Ram. You also do get a Camera but may not get one that's on-par with most of the Phones that are good 5 or 8 Gb ones.

Also, if you need more Battery life, the Battery company Mugen makes an extended battery for this Phone that supposedly adds over 40% more life to the phone. A bit expensive at just under $100 but well worth it if the claims are true.

      CNET:
The good: The LG Optimus L9 from T-Mobile has a snappy dual-core CPU, 4G, Android 4.0, and a 1080p HD camera.

The bad: The Optimus L9's battery drains quickly, it has a poor audio speaker, and it comes preloaded with too much bloatware.

      ENGADGET on L9's Camera:
We'll be frank: if you want a phone with a top-notch camera, the L9 isn't for you. The 5-megapixel sensor works fine for simple snapshots, but users who want something that can replace their point-and-shoots would probably scoff at the amateurish image…

It really depends. In the big city areas T-Mobile is great, but outside of that it's terrible. My family has had t-mobile for over 10 years, service has improved by a hair. Why do they still stick with t-mobile, because it's cheap, that's it. They complain every year how bad it is. My mom and dad constantly get drop calls, and so far they've gotten around it by using the wifi-calling.

      Is it cheap? Yes.

But the coverage is C+ on average.

Guess it depends where you live. If you live around a bigger city or metropolitan area the coverage & reliability is very good with T-Mobile. If you life outside of these metro areas, or live in a rural area coverage may not be as good. Better to ask around where you live to determine what service providers offer better calling coverage. I however, still say, if you're looking to save some money, get rid of the Monthly Rip-Off plans that soak you for $1,000 or more per year & Chain you in with a proprietary CDMA phone. DEATH to CDMA.

Yeah I agree. Tmobile works great in Chicago and some of the bigger cities I've been to. Off the coast of Maine it didn't do as well, but I still never had a dead spot.

I bought one, they did not ship the $50 card with the phone. I called CS, they tried really, really hard to screw me out of the deal. Was on the phone talking to several CS jerks until 1 finally admitted wrong. Bastards!!!
