Thanks, got one! Sure beats $60 a year to rent one.

I have this modem works great. Wouldn't I have to pay for the next tier to get even faster speeds from Comcrap anyways?

I got the lowest rate Comcast sub and a Docsis 3.0 modem. I'm getting over 20mbps downloads, so I'd venture to say no. The thing is they probably won't give you a 3.0 modem if you pay for the el-cheapo subscription, but even with Docsis 2.0 I was getting speeds that were considerably faster than AT&T's shitty U-Verse.

Just for the record: brought one and work fine with Comcast. Just called to activate it.
