Just got one last week for $130 and thought it was a good price.... figures.
After installing it in my home over the weekend I would not recommend getting this unit. with a large library to share, it is slow, and will not play many of the videos I have that I can play with my buffalo wireless media player. This unit is MS heavy and if I had to summarize it in one word, I'd say SLOW.

I wish they would come out with a good one. So many of them are not compatible with most videos.

Got one for $99 from newegg a few weks ago. Hated it initially. Performance is OK if it is wired. And it needs to connect to a MCE PC. I have Vista Ultimate.

Some avi files needed to have their "header" changed to xvid (Google it). Play 720p WMV and SD WMV files fine. On the music side, things got dicey. I have mostly FLAC files which the extender would not play ( decoders are IN the extender, not in the PC). Eventually, I converted most FLAC files to WMA Lossless and they played fine. I did that to keep the files at Lossless. The extended that forever to "sync" the music library if it is allow to "learn" by itself. A short cut I use is to copy the music library database from the MS MediaPlayer folder to the extender mediaplayer folder.

As I said, it eventually "grow" on me. I now use it everyday.
