it's good, but slow. very stable and have had zero downtime running 2 years running from a battery backup.

Many people have issues with this not staying connected to the network. Sucks that it doesn't support NFS.

I bought one of these a few months back, for a similar price. I would avoid this at all costs. It is extremely slow. You will be lucky if you can sustain 3MB/s with this. I bought it, thinking I could stream standard definition video to my Popcorn Hour and Media Gate products. This is way too slow and everything is choppy.

I have an old Maxtor Shared Storage II (upgraded for free to CentralAxis) that is at least twice as fast as the NAS200. I also bought the big brother to the NAS200, the Linksys NMH300. Both Linksys products are sitting on the shelf, collecting dust and I regret both purchases. The NMH300 is quite a bit faster than the NAS200, but has several other built in limitations, such as extremely limited security settings, that prevent me from using it as planned. I don't want my files getting accidentally or maliciously overwritten or deleted.

If your looking for a NAS, I suggest that you look elsewhere or build your own. Building your own, is a bit more work, but in my opinion, it's worth it. I recently built a small Linux server. It has far more capabilities and is much faster (over 30 MB/s). I was concerned about power usage and it's not as low as I would have liked, but I was able to get it under 50 watts. For comparison, my Maxtor SSII runs about 12 to 15 watts and my satellite DVR runs at just over 50 watts.

For now, I'm using the Maxtor SSII for documents, backups and shared storage. It runs 24/7. I'm using the Linux box, to stream media and only turn it on, when I'm doing so. I would run the Linux box 24/7 and use it for both purposes, if I didn't already have the Maxtor SSII.
