    Good card, usually the latest version. Don't run the full driver suite unless you are running any OS prior to WinXP.
    The RP-SMA antenna makes it easy to add a larger antenna as well.

    #1 Good thinking, I never thought about that. True.. I already have plenty of these cards, or I would have bought this one, althought is carries only 90 day warrantee and it's refurbished. Looks good..

    I would just run a cable for desktops. Cable is more reliable for large file transfers.

    you really need to give more detail besides "avi movies"

    .avi is a container format, and can contain video/audio streams encoded in a variety of codecs in different resolutions at different bitrates and framerates.

    If you're talking about high bitrate h.264 1080p movies, then this card may not do the job.
