Anyone knows of an 8 port gigabit ROUTER that has NO wireless? No need for wireless since it is going into a metal box...

      #4 There's this:
      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127060
I got it because my wireless router kept overheating and locking up. It works pretty well, but by default it seems to give an annoyingly high priority torrent traffic.

If you need more ports, just pick up a couple of these when they go on sale:

I've seen them for $15 with rebate. They're tiny, very fast with jumbo frames, and they run cool even under high load.

I used to own this router. I ended up returning it. The performance was crappy and I was losing wireless connection way too often. It does not seem to have good reviews either. Read it on the net. I am not sure if there was a new firmware update that fixed any of the issues I mentioned above.

I got a D-link 655 at BB for $67.49. Anyone thinks that's a good price? I was considering returning it. I already have a Buffalo G with DD-WRT which has been on for 246 days continuously w/o resetting. I bought the 655 for 1000Mpbs jumbo frame/wireless N for mkv transmission.

I have WRT150N. Is it safe to assume the range won't be better on this - and that this just generally isn't worth the upgrade?

Put DD-WRT on it and you are good to go. As with most routers.

yeah this is a DDWRT friendly router, and double antennae is a nice touch too.

      BTW,my CompUSA G-router works well (don't laugh).
I am waiting for N+Gbit price to come down enough before I will switch. The 100Mbits LAN is theoretically slower than the wireless N-speed. It will be a bottle neck for file transfer especially a NAS.

the top is flimsy and could break easy. Make sure that it is secured or it will end kaput.
