NewEgg.com has the basic but solid Linksys WRT54G 802.11g Wireless Router for $44 with free shipping. This is a tried and true router for those who don't want to fuss with X2 X3 MIMO N hype. [BizRate]

Now it depends if this version is compatible with DD-WRT, because the original linksys firmware sucks.

I have a v3.0 running openwrt and more recently tomato (http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato).

Rock solid, with good enough QOS that I can
run p2p in the background while I surf and ssh interactively.

Looks like ZZF has the WRT54GL for not much more ($45 + shipping).

I'm running Tomato on my WRT54G v4, which I bought a couple weeks ago for $3 at a local thrift store. I also have a v1.1 and a v2, all of which can run any of the alternative firmware. The v1.1 was free via FreeCycle, and the v2 was $10 earlier this year from the same thrift store, but it had the box and everything, which is why it was so expensive Smile. They all work fine.

The newer G's don't run other firmware because they cheapend things too much, not enough memory etc. That's why they came out with the GL at a higher price point.
