It also includes a Cyberlink Blu-ray software package for playback Blu-ray media in high definition.
Keep dropping .... get in the 40$ range and i'm in.
This is definitely cheap for a Blue Ray drive. A couple more dollars and I'll pick one up.
It would rather get one that burns DVD's.
For brand like Liteon and read only drive - I will buy it when it drop below $40. I always remember what Liteon wholesale sales show off to me how rigid their whole price is and think they are untouchable. After that - never buy any Liton brand again.
Read-only full-size drives (Bluray or otherwise) are a waste to sink this kind of money into. SONY may think their crap doesn't stink since they "won" the HD format war for now, but these prices are still ridiculous unless you watch TV 24/7.
When a read/write drive is sub-$50 (and discs are sub $1.00) then I'll start considering it, but people who are snapping up low-end players for over $200 a pop and $100 readers like this one must have no clue about what to prioritize with their remaining money.
DL-DVD discs are still over $5 each. Optical media will never get under $1 a disc it seems. The future is solid-state memory and fibre/wireless. 50gb Bluray is bullshit for the price. Hard drives are cheaper.
any idea when reasonably priced burners and media will be available. Blu-ray movies are incredibly nice to watch.
# 7, you can thank the *IAA companies for helping keep blank media costly.
read only is a waste of a drive bay... pay a little more and get the one with the dvd burner from newegg.
Not bad for an $86 + a few bucks blue laser pointer =)
I'd rather pay $86 for a DVD burner.
Ditto
Does this work on a Mac?
needs to record to blu-ray
You'll need software to play BR DVD's. I got PowerDVD 8.0
These will be $30 in 6 months.
Wow pretty soon you can start buying these to build computers instead of DVD drives.
If the price drops by half and it is also a writer then I am in.
if the price drops to $10 I'm in
