Newegg has the Lite-On iHOS104-06 4X Blu-ray Drive for $40 - 10% off with coupon code BTEZZZS28 [Exp 11/21] = $36 with free shipping. Reads DVD discs at 8x, CDs at 32x, and Blu-ray discs at 4x. Sports a 2MB buffer and a SATA interface.
Anyone knows how reliable/durable the Liteon Blu-ray drive is? My liteon CDrw works and last but the DVD burner fails a lot.( high failure rate after 18month use)
Not sure about how durable this drive is but it has good ratings on newegg and you should read there. HP/Compaq used Liteon drives in their servers years ago and we had good luck with them. Have you checked around for recommended media for your drive? It makes a difference in some drives.
#1 can't comment something that I don't own or no knowloge with. But! I own so many brands of drives. 3 of my Liteon still works good, I got one that's back in 98 4x cd-r still works, Loud though. my 2 other Liteon still works good, No problems. read, write and burns. I just check out the link, it has over 200 reviews 66% with 5 eggs and 13% 4 eggs totally 79% positive witch mean very good reviews. I buy, If I need one. Currentlly I don't own any Blu-Ray drive. I can afford this 36 bucks drive, But could not afford the disk. too expencive for me to collect or rent.. I'am using Cyberlink Pro Dvd 10 ultimate on my computer its convert every normal dvd's disk to High Definitions..
Most importantly, it comes with software, so you won't have to buy separate (pricey) software to play Blu-Rays. I would note that combo drives (plays blu-rays, burns DVDs and CDs but *NOT* bul-rays) are only about $10 more on sale.
Oh come on. Its a blue ray player for 36 dollers. Buy it and use it. Its not like you are buying a laptop or something. Its freaking 36 doller blueray player.

At least this one does not cost that much!
I got an Liteon DVDRW drive, they are one of the best in DVD category, don't know about BD though, I'd assume is quite good.
I've historically had good luck with Liteon drives as well - using them back to 2004.
