Newegg has the Lite-On iHOS104-06 4X Blu-ray Drive for $60 - $5 off with coupon code EMCYPPY54 [Exp 4/5] = $55 with free shipping. Reads DVD discs at 8x, CDs at 32x, and Blu-ray discs at 4x. Sports a 2MB buffer and a SATA interface.
Some of these come bundled with a lite version of powerdvd ow windvd, you would have to check with the Egg. The lite versions only support multi-channel sound via S/PDIF.
fair price? is a 2 MB buffer adequate when playing blu-ray discs? this might make for an interesting external drive if the specs are adequate.
Reviews indicate that it is very capable of playing BDs and I've never really seen cheaper. Where it lacks is burning capabilities and ripping speed.
Yeah, doesn't even burn DVDs/CDs - kinda crappy if you'd rather have just a single drive. Otherwise it's fine, though.
Are there any good Blu Ray player software that is free?
