Even though the procelin coating is baked on, once you chip it you are in a bit of trouble. After a while it will also wear down and rust will creep through. Over all a very nice unit but I would be very uneasy about having a good fire on top of something with foldable legs.
OK for doing smores in Zucotti Park.
