Hmm.... doesn't seem to be wireless. I'm not a gamer. Are all the decent gamer mice corded?

^ Depends on your definition of "decent". Generally speaking, even with today's wireless tech which is better than yesteryear's, wirelessness introduces a slight lag which some people find objectionable (and others don't even notice it) when you need the most rapid response possible.

Also, and there are differing opinions on this, many gamers don't want the extra weight of having a couple AA batteries in their mouse as they are moving it around so much for hours on end. It's not that it is too heavy in general but rather, your twitch muscles can accelerate a lighter object faster.

On the other hand some people mouse differently than others putting a lot of their shoulder and arm movements into it, so for them adding weight can be of benefit so the mouse doesn't fly off the desk and go through the window due to their not having enough coordination to stop pushing it if it's lightweight.

I hate corded mice. I use a Logitech G7 which is a great gaming mouse. If I were in the market again I would look at the Logitech g700. Wireless FTW.

Oh, I also own a Logitech MX5500 revolution which sucks for gaming. If you're going to get a wireless mouse for gaming I recommend sticking with one that's designed for it.

Thanks for the explanation #2. It amazing to me what a world exists out there in gamerland and how the manufacturers take it very seriously.

They have to do something to try to convince people to buy high profit margin $20+ mice instead of the $8 mice which most non-gamers are content with... though personally I insist on at least a laser optical engine in mine even if not used for gaming because the higher DPI allows moving it shorter distances and allows more flexibility in what the mousing (pad) surface is like, which is especially useful on a laptop where you may have a multitude of different surfaces you end up mousing on.

I picked up a new one from Logitech a few weeks ago when it was $40. It really is an awesome mouse. I'm a casual gamer (mostly FPS), but I found this mouse to be significantly better than my Logitech MX.

Be aware - I purchased a "dented box" Performance MX from Logitech a few months back. When I got it, it was all beaten up and had pen marks all over it. I called Logitech CS and the rep I spoke to said they do not deal with "dented box" returns and that I should "chalk it up to experience". Undeterred, I called Logitech corporate. The rep I spoke to was horrified by my treatment from the CS rep and overnighted me a brand new mouse.

Darn I missed this one also. As for Logitech dented box specials, I have bought several different items in the past (mice, wireless game controlers, webcams, etc) and every one came in a box that I could consider to be brand new...not at all dented of mushed. I think they sometimes use the dented box "special" as a ploy to move out some overstocked product quickly. All I know is that this is the best way I have found to buy Logitech products at huge discounts. I am a fan.

That was a good price but the G9 I had, developed a short where the cord connects and it was uncomfortable (interchangeable grips were pretty much a waste of time)so I had to replace it. Made a huge difference in my scores though. I use a Razer Death Adder now. Much more comfortable.

The reason corded mice are better for gaming is because you can get increased polling and higher bit data path over USB. Or so I've read.

I got a "dented box" GT wheel and it works perfectly. Box wasn't even dented.

Get the Logitech wired/wireless convertable mouse. Wired for gaming and wireless for general use.
