Hit and miss like any refurb. Ordered one and the backlight was DOA. Replacement fine so far. Beware the 90 day warranty on refurbs, though. I have had to have warranty replacements on 3 of 4 unrefurbished Harmony remotes that I have.

Buyer beware. Many reports have been made on issues with the charging cradle, buttons, etc. I've personally had issues with multiple Harmony 880/890s. Customer service was not helpful once past the year warantee; my only option was to send one in for repair, with no loaner program available.

The original charging cradles sucked but the newer versions are much better.

I HAVE THIS REMOTE AND IT IS THE BEST THING EVER.

my remote messed up twice (because my german shepherd chewed on it), and logitech replaced it both times (the second time was AFTER the warranty was up)

even my non-techie parents can use the remote without any issues. if something doesnt work, they just press the help button and it guides them through fixing it

this is a steal of a price. buy it. bitches.

Our crapped out after only about a month of use. We think it was a fault in how the battery was seated. We tried a lot of methods for holding it in (using bits of paper or cardboard, etc.) but no luck. The second one did the same thing. We eventually just gave up on this model.

Got two of these refurbs last time around. One works perfectly. The other has bad Infrared LEDs. They work but are very weak so the usable distance is very short (less than 6 ft). It was out of the 90-day warranty, but luckily I found info on replacing the IR LEDs. Very easy job for anyone who can use a soldering iron.

Great remote...we sell the snot out of these, but we have had a some-what high failure rate.

Had the 880 for a few years now and the up and down channel buttons and volume buttons no longer work. Poor design of those tiny buttons.

Enjoyed the great interface to programming the remote, great functionality, great feel before it broke.

Bought a Harmony One to replace the 880 and its been stellar.

I got one of these a year ago. Cradle works great remote is awesome. It did take a little while to get it programmed, but I am a big believer on a little more work on the front end to save on the back. And it certainly makes things easier once set up. Heck my wife can now watch a DVD without having to call me at work.

I wanted to get the Harmony 550 posted previously for $43 at BestBuy, but they have been OOS for at least a week, online and in stores. But voila, at the bottom of this thread, there is a link for a Harmony 550 for $49 with Free Shipping/no tax. (far better deal than anything else on the net).

In for one of those instead Smile

I have had this remote for about 3 years now. The original cradle didnt charge, they sent a new redesigned cradle that fixed it, free of charge. Even my non-techie parents, whom were wary of this, love this now. The help button, does wonders, when things dont work they way they should. Great remote, bought it for much more than this, get this, and like others had mentioned, if you have any probs, call logitech, they will replace it for free.

I have one of these and have mixed reviews. I replaced a 688 with it and while it had small squishy buttons that were changed on the 880 the placement of the buttons is odd. My main complaint is that the pause and play buttons are on the side when I think they should be centered. They fixed this with the Harmony One. If I could do it again I'd hold out for the One or even pay a little more for it. Check out the button placements especially if you are upgrading.
