This is the non-RF version of the 890, which is a great remote and still one of the best values in RF capable remotes. For non-RF, I would look more to the new Harmony One over the 880.

Only difference between this and the Harmony One is a small touch screen on the "One". I bought the One for $150 not too long ago. If I had to do it all over, I'd go with this one at this price.

Happy with mine, gifted one to my parents and they always tell me how much they love it.

I have bought three of these remotes for myself and my family, and two of the Harmony Ones for myself. This is a great deal. The biggest problem with this remote is the docking station. The early models had 3 contacts and many people had a hard time getting the remotes to charge properly. You would have to play around with the remote in the base station in order to get it to charge. Logitech has since come out with a newer base station that has a small black magnet where the center contact was that helps pull the remote down onto the other 2 contacts. This base station has worked much better.

There have also been a few complaints about buttons sticking on this remote. I have never had that problem with any of the 3 I have purchased. I believe many of these people must be getting food or drinks into the remote which makes the buttons stick.

Finally as far as this and the One go. The button placement on the One is much better, and the writing is much easier to read. Once you get used to the layout of the 880 it isn't bad, but it still isn't as nice as the One. The screen graphics of the One are also much nicer. I do not like the touchscreen though, and prefer the buttons next to the screen like the 880 has. Finally the One charges perfectly in it's base, I haven't heard any complaints about it not charging. It does seem to go through the battery quicker than the 880.

I have one and for this price you can't go wrong. I agree with #6 that the button layout isn't the best. It's a pain with my DVR. My Dish remote is much easier to use without looking at it and I never hit the wrong buttons since they are spaced out. Remote heaven remains a dream.. The Harmony One may be better but I won't pay that much for a remote.

I bought an 880, recently. Was having trouble getting the settings right so I called their customer service line. I was expecting a long hold time with the typical uncaring customer service you might receive. WOW was I impressed. I got right in and the rep completely set up my device AND answered all my questions. Best customer service experience ever.
